Lake Temiskaming

Lake Temiskaming is a hop, skip and a jump away from my auto mechanic, where my car has been spending a good amount of time; therefore Teaka and I spend time at the lake.  Here are some photos of the boardwalk, and lake area.

Another robin built her nest in the lilac tree and had a nest full of little ones.

And the barn swallows, which are now flying around, testing their skills as they swoosh by flying inches away from me as I work outside.  I like the barn swallows and am already planning to build a structure for them to nest in, once they can no longer access the barn after I put doors on it.

The new chickens have all adapted to their new home. They are growing fast although I haven't had any eggs yet.  I made some modifications to the roosting and nesting area however I suspect I need to do some more; it may be too crowded still because the Orpington breed is so big. Duke is quite the character as he runs around trying to keep an eye on all the hens.

Ethel comes to me every time I approach and will eat out of my hand.  The Orpingtons are skittish. Opal is part blind in one eye but gets along fine. Interestingly in my first flock of chickens, from the same hatchery, Lucy was blind in one eye - although she was a different breed.
