A Story to Tell

I do not know the story. Only the tree knows the untold story. The first time I saw this tree, something about it was intriguing.  It stands by itself, age unknown. I bet it has many stories about the people and families and animals that have lived here.  The original part of the house was built in 1928, and it belonged to a 194 acre property.  I don't know if the tree is that old.  I know more recently there were horses that grazed on the land and the house and current property was sectioned off from the farm acreage.

Who added the face to the tree?  Was the anchor placed in the tree for a dog or maybe a goat? The tree has old dead broken limbs and also many healthy looking branches with buds.  I look forward to finding out more about the tree species in the spring.

Interesting Fact: 2021 census for the township I live in - population 105

  1. I love trees like this. Thanks for sharing. If there was livestock on your farm look for evidence of the manure pile next to the barn. That’s the ideal place for your garden. Unless it’s in deep shade.
