February Snow Moon
The February full moon is called the Snow Moon by Natives as it is associated with typical heavy snowfall that occurs around this time of year. It is also known as the Bear Moon as bear cubs are born around this time. Yesterday as we had tea my neighbours shared a few of their experiences with bears. Bear cubs have been seen as early as March here but typically emerge from hibernation a bit later.
I now know the tracks that we have seen in the snow on our walks belong to a fox. Teaka has done a great job in letting it know that this is her turf and the chickens are under her guard.
