Something's in the Barn

Update March 24th: I think we have had success in moving Mr Raccoon off to another location.  I discovered a crawl through behind the insulation from the old barn into the hen house attic.  I'm not sure if the opening is needed for ventilation or if I can board it up.  For now I stapled screening over it and will add fencing wire to prevent a predator from getting into the henhouse from the ceiling.  At some point it would be a good idea to put doors on the old barn - but it is low on the priority list, at least for this year.

I took a look for the first time in the upper level of the old barn.  Teaka has been telling me there is something in there so I got a ladder and thought it would be fun to take a video.  The video is not too exiting however a few seconds after I stopped recording something behind the foil wrap let me know it was in there.  I did not investigate further and I suspect it is a raccoon.  I noticed raccoon tracks in the snow close by.  I left my live trap at the old place (unintentionally) so early this morning I placed a worklight in the barn hoping that between the bright light and Teaka's barking the visitor would not come back. This barn is where I usually park my car but I'd like to know the animal is gone before I park there again to avoid damage to my car.

...... update: Just checked and the raccoon is still there.  Maybe he never ventured out last night, we had -26 windchill again.  We will continue to try to persuade him to leave, hopefully before he rips out all the insulation!

P.S. I had to load the video via youtube as the file was too big for Blogger, so if you want to see it you will have to copy & paste the link.
